A little personal info:
My name is Bill Fohey, I have been in business under the name of Sunset Sounds since May of 1978. I started out doing Jr. High dances and after much investment in equipment and music, branched out into all fields of being a mobile DJ. I now average between thirty and forty weddings a year along with doing private parties, dances, anniversary's, birthday parties, corporate functions and yes, still an occasional school dance.
As with most DJ's, I started out spinning 45's and LP's. By 1986 with the advent of compact discs, I finally decided that it was time to take the plunge and switch to CD's. By 1988 I had enough music on CD to finally stop using records and totally revamped my system. And most recently, with computers coming a long way and the introduction of the MP3 music format, I now have about 9000 songs stored on a laptop and I carry an identical laptop with an identical library of music. DJ'ing has come a long way, from spinning 45's to using a computer laptop, it keeps getting better.
I only use state-of-the-art equipment such as Shure, JBL, Rane and Denon. And in early 2000, added a Dell laptop to the inventory and now carry two Dell laptops with identical music libraries.
I am a one-man operation, meaning I don't have a stable of DJ's that I hire out, if you hire me, you get me. I do not and never have claimed to be the best and I am far from the worst, but I must be doing something right to have stayed in business for over 25 years.
I feel my prices are very competitive. You will find higher and you will find lower. I do not believe, as important as the music is, that you should have to pay through the nose for it.
If I am unavailable for whatever the reason to accommodate your needs, I am more than happy to recommend other DJ's who are also very competent and with whose work I am familiar. After all, if I recommend someone and that DJ doesn't do a good job, that is a reflection on me.
